Hi,
I want to update my UT_Lawstudio template from 2.2 to 2.5. I have renewed the subscription and can now load the template files... but is this the right way to update? In the next step I want to migrate from Joomla 4 to Joomla 5...

Thanks for support! :-)

Hi, the correct way to update a Joomla template from Unitemplates based on Helix Ultimate is:
  1. Make a backup copy
  2. Download only the template
  3. Login to your administrator and update Helix Ultimate from the Update Manager.
  4. Go to System >> Install >> Extensions, and upload the template file, that will do the install or update.
  5. If you changed the color, see System >> Site Template Styles >> STYLE YOU ARE USING >> Template Options (green button) >> Advanced >> SCSS and activate the SCSS to CSS Compilation, save and refresh your frontend (where you use the edited style) this will generate new CSS with your colors and with the correct icons for Joomla version. After you finish creating the new CSS, deactivate the SCSS to CSS compilation and save.
  6. If you did not modify any PHP files, then you do not have anything else to do, but if you did, reintegrate those modified files by checking the changes in the current ones.

Upgrade to Joomla 5.
Migrating to Joomla 5 is crucial to benefit from the new speed and improved security, and Joomla 6 is coming in October 2025.
If your hosting has PHP 8.1+ and MySQL 8.0.13+ Apache 2.4, then you can now migrate to Joomla 5, just make sure to update all your extensions to the latest versions and that they are compatible with Joomla 5, after that just make a backup and proceed to migrate to Joomla 5, for this in Administrator >> Joomla Update >> Options >> Update Channel select Joomla Next.

To possibly solve the problem I wanted to update the Page Builder, but during installation I got the error message: JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL 42S21, 1060, Duplicate column name 'catid'
Extension installation stopped.
danger: Error installing component

-> Now I get the Error 0
Failed opening required '/homepages/19/d415813392/htdocs/cms_XYZ/components/com_sppagebuilder/builder/classes/base.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php8.3')

Hello.
The AddonHelper problem is solved by updating SP Page Builder.
After the error of installing Page Builder have you tried to reinstall? If you have tried to update more than 2 times and it always gives an error, write to us in the chat to send us the access data to the administrator, FTP and cPanel to verify the database. We will be here for 2 more hours until 10:30 AM Peru time, then we will return at 2:00 PM.
Regards
